Fatal Fluid

And since we're on the subject (I just uploaded this new profile image to be more water-oriented), what are you really supposed to do for jellyfish stings? I've heard you should pee on it, but really? What is the real answer here? By the way, for those going to the Hurlburt Field area, I know there are lots of jellyfish down that way. And sharks at the sound, dusk and dawn.

I literally just got stung by a jellyfish a few days ago. A Portuguese Man-o-war, to be precise. While doing a long freestyle swim in the ocean. Peeing on it is one option, another is to pour ammonia on the stings. It neutralizes the venom.

I was learning about a worse kind of jellyfish yesterday- the box jellyfish. Man-o-war hurt you. These things kill you. And then there's a version that's tiny, virtually invisible. Even more poisonous than the large ones.

Aaaand if anyone's too scared to ever swim again, they're only a problem off parts of Australia. Let the Aussies deal with 'em, and just pack some ammonia in your first aid kit when you go swimming in the ocean in the US and most other places.
