We are Dangerous Men!

"All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of day are dangerous men. That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible." -T.E. Lawrence

keep on pushin buddy! that's a pretty good swim time, just get the running and pullups up to par and you'll be on the right track for sure.

Not looking all that stellar so far, my mile is at 8:15, 500m is at about 9mins, and i can do 50 push ups in 2mins easy, sit ups are harder for me cuz im not used to doing them by myself so im working on them, pull ups i can do like 4 in a row lol. Im trying to get back in shape, been in nursing school so my fitness kind of died after high school doing all the pre nursing courses. I ended up having to drop nursing now im looking at PJs

welcome nick. yeah you are one of many PJ hopefuls here and at FF (along with TACP, CCT, etc.)

So you just got started huh? What are your pt, run and swim scores like now?

Ok so i found this website a couple of days ago and had to sign up lol. Training as we speak for the PAST test, just trying to get pointers and tips in order to excel at the indoc and throughout the pipeline. Used to swim in high school, just started to hardcore workout 2 weeks ago. Once I get a baseline I can start pushing hard.

damn man, that really sucks. Why wont they give you the cortizone shot? that stuff is a little piece of heaven lol. What's your 500m at right now?

Ankle is steadily getting better. My 500m swim is literally a minute slower than normal with my ankle the way it is. I have yet to start running around, but I am walking pretty good with a brace on it. I'm going to wait until wed. of next week to see how I do running, and the PAST test is Friday so hopefully I'll be ready.

Btw the snorkel and mask are simply for practicing retrieval and buddy breathing if you have a friend with you. I don't suggest do anything alone in the pool as you I'm sure already know. And practice practice practice treading water and doing your underwaters!!

You sound a lot like me. I work in a local 24hr gym and for a long time only worked out for bulk and zero cardio. Since I've started Fatal Fitness, I've lost 10lbs, gained a ton of FUNCTIONAL strength which is really whats important, and my endurance has gone up quite a bit. My bench has gotten terrible, but that doesn't really matter. Being able to do a freakin million flutterkicks and situps and pullups and pushups and body squats is the key. Its all about repetition. The more you do it, the better you'll get. I did the "ladder" a lot for pushups and pullups.

So to answer your question, yes I incorporate weights because I do FF workouts. I also do pushups, and situps throughout the day. morning is pushups, evening is situps. Every 15-30 minutes I drop and hack some out. There's a guy on FF that did that whenever someone said something stupid at work and was apparently always smoked lol But believe me it works. Just stick to the workouts these guys give you, buy some fins, snorkel, mask, alice pack, some good tennis shoes and boots and your set. The pack and boots are for rucking purposes. Its hard to get good at everything at the same time, but you will progress. My friend is in Combat Control training and apparently all they have done is preach crossfit style training as well as calisthenics running and swimming(obviously). So your in the right place my friend.
