modern representation of scyllis, a Greek sailor captured by the Persians (while the Spartans battled them on land). Scyllis learned of the Persian's battle plan, then stole a knife, dove oberboard, and remained underwater long enough to cut the anchor ropes of several ships before swimmig away and rejoining the Greek fleet.
